Hello! I’m Megan Reeve and I am the owner of ABZ Sleep Consulting and a Sleep Sense Certified sleep consultant.
Why Am I a Sleep Consultant?
Because I’ve been there. Sleep deprived. Living on 4-5 hours of broken sleep a day. Convinced I was doing something ‘wrong’ and feeling no confidence in my ability to be a good parent.
When my husband and I had our first child, we expected her to wake frequently for feeds – as newborns do. But at 4.5 months of age, my daughter’s sleep was getting less predictable – not more consistent. We read books and blogs and spoke to friends with babies but we couldn’t seem to crack the code.
Finally, we reached out to a sleep consultant for help and within 3 days, everything turned around. Not only did we gain a better understanding of what healthy sleep looks like and the science behind sleep, but we also gained new confidence in the choices we were making. For us, working with a sleep consultant was like receiving postnatal care we didn’t even know was available.
It was so helpful, in fact, that I decided to become a certified sleep consultant myself so that I could help families achieve good, healthy sleep.
My husband and I live in Guelph, Ontario Canada with our two children. Our daughter is 3 and our son is 1. Having just experienced the newborn stage for a second time, I am so grateful for everything I now know about sleep – all the things I wish I knew when I had my daughter over three years ago.
I know a lot of parents have hesitations when they hear the term ‘sleep training’. There are myths floating around that it’s bad or dangerous to help your child learn to sleep independently. Some people even think it’s a selfish act for parents who just want more sleep for themselves – but this couldn’t be further from the truth!
Your child desperately needs good, consistent sleep to remain happy, healthy, and strong. At the same time, I know I am able to be a better parent when I am well-rested. In other words, it’s not an either/or, it’s a both/and. You and your child need good sleep to live your best lives, and learning how to achieve that sleep is one of the best things you can do.
Trust me, I’ve seen first-hand the power of good sleep, and I wish it for you and your family, as well.
